Our Story

More Than a Meal. A Place at the Table.

Made with love, served with purpose, and inspired by generations of Southern hospitality.

Long before Set The Table had a name, there was a handwritten menu calendar, a ruler, a grocery list, and a mother determined to make sure her children were fed well.
I was raising five children, and there were seasons when I had to make $700 in food assistance last an entire month. Near the end of each month, I would sit down and draw the next month’s menu by hand. I planned around grocery-store sales, rotated proteins, built hearty meals, and used leftovers with intention. Shopping day often meant tacos something the children could look forward to while I brought the groceries home and prepared for the weeks ahead.

It was not simply meal planning. It was stewardship. It was creativity. It was my way of creating stability, comfort, and something familiar for my family, even when our circumstances required me to stretch every resource available.

The First Lessons

The First Lessons

My first teacher in the kitchen was my father, Henry, an award-winning chef who introduced me to the belief that a meal has the power to bring families together, create cherished memories, and care for those closest to us.

He poured the love of cooking into me. He taught me techniques, shared recipes and kitchen secrets, and showed me that good food deserves patience. The values he instilled in me hospitality, respect for every ingredient, and care for the people being served remain the foundation of Set The Table and every dish we prepare.
My oldest brother, Desmond, followed a culinary path of his own. Motherhood chose me and my family became the people seated at my first table. That kitchen was where everything my father taught me met everything life required of me. In many ways, Set The Table is an updated reflection of Henry influence, carried forward through the meals I created for my own family.

A Family Tradition Becomes Set The Table

As life changed, the handwritten calendar became a family dry-erase menu board and, later, the kitchen chalkboard that guests still notice and talk about. The tools changed, but the purpose never did: plan thoughtfully, prepare with care, and let the people you love know there is a place for them.

That same tradition now guides Set The Table.
Our menu changes because family tables change. Some evenings call for a lighter plate. Others call for the comfort of a full meal or the generous plate reserved for someone who arrives truly hungry. Every guest is different, but each deserves food prepared with the same care and dignity.
Set The Table was not created simply to sell meals. It was created from a lifetime of understanding what a meal can mean: security during a difficult season, celebration after a long week, a familiar flavor that brings back a memory, or one less responsibility for someone who has already carried enough that day.

We Saved You a Seat

Just like family coming home, we at Set The Table want every guest to recognize a part of themselves in our story. We want you to feel that you fit here that this table was prepared with your life, your appetite, and your need for something good and familiar in mind.

You may be feeding a busy household, caring for an aging parent, managing a dietary need, coming home after a demanding workday, or simply be a hungry soul who wants to eat good food prepared with care. Whatever brings you to us, there is room for you at this table.

That is why the table matters.
A table does more than hold food. It gathers people with different stories, needs, appetites, and circumstances and gives them a shared place to belong. At Set The Table, we prepare every meal with that purpose in mind.
